Yom Yerushalayim: A Day to Praise YHWH

Tonight starts Yom Yerushalayim (Jerusalem Day), and we are celebrating the 53rd anniversary of the liberation of Jerusalem.

Jerusalem Day 2020 in Israel will begin in the evening of ThursdayMay 21 and ends in the evening of FridayMay 22.

Yom Yerushalayim is cause for everyone to rejoice!

On this day, during the 1967 Six Day War, the whole of Jerusalem once again came under Jewish sovereignty, fulfilling Bible prophecy (Jeremiah 30:18; Amos 9:11).

“YHWH will save the dwellings of Judah first, so that the honor of the house of David and of Jerusalem’s inhabitants may not be greater than that of Judah.”  (Zechariah 12:7)

The Holy City had been divided between Israel and Jordan after Israel proclaimed its independence in 1948, and the Arab nations attacked Israel.

During the 1948 War of Independence, Jordan wrested control of the Old City of Jerusalem where the First and Second Temples once stood.

After 1967’s Six Day War, Jerusalem was, once again, under Jewish sovereignty for the first time in 2,000 years!

Yeshua, (Jesus) died and rose again in Jerusalem, Abraham offered Isaac on Mount Moriah in Jerusalem, King David danced before the Lord and ruled from Jerusalem, it is where the Temple once stood, and this is where Yeshua will soon return – Jerusalem – the City of God.  It is mentioned 810 times in the Bible.]

The days before the 1967 war were a time of intense Arab hostility.  Syria, Egypt, Jordan, and the Palestinian Liberation Organization (PLO) threatened to completely destroy Israel.

While Syria, Egypt, Jordan, and Iraq amassed troops to attack Israel, Israel launched a pre-emptive strike.  Despite the superior military strength of Israel’s enemies, the Jewish nation miraculously won the war in just six days.

God was protecting His Holy City Jerusalem!

Once again, Israel’s capital, the city in which God chose to dwell, was in Jewish hands.

“You will bring thm in and plant them on the mountain of Your possession; LORD, You have prepared a place for Your dwelling; Lord, Your hands have established the sanctuary.”  (Exodus 15:17)

Jerusalem is central to end-time prophecy.

The Bible says that in the last days, the nations will come against Jerusalem (Zechariah 12:3; Ezekiel 38-39).

Indeed, the stage seems set for this very thing to happen.  But as much as the world community would like to re-divide Jerusalem, giving the part that Jordan briefly controlled to the Palestinians, Adonai has made it clear that He opposes dividing His land.

“I will gather all nations and bring them down to the Valley of Jehoshaphat.  There I will put them on trial for what they did to My inheritance, My people Israel, because they scattered My people among the nations and divided up My land.”  (Joel 3:2)

We encourage all Believers to earnestly pray for the peace of Jerusalem this Yom Yerushalayim.

“Pray for the peace of Jerusalem:  ‘May those who love you be secure.'”  (Psalm 122:6)

You can also bring peace to the hearts and minds of the Jewish People by helping us bring to them Yeshua and the Word of God in these last days.

John 4 Tree of Life Version (TLV)

Yeshua Offers Living Water

Now Yeshua knew that the Pharisees heard that He was making and immersing more disciples than John. (Although Yeshua Himself was not immersing, His disciples were.) So He left Judea and went back again to the Galilee.

But He needed to pass through Samaria. So He comes to a Samaritan town called Shechem, near the plot of land that Jacob gave to his son Joseph. [a] Now Jacob’s well was there. So Yeshua, exhausted from the journey, was sitting by the well. It was midday.[b]

A Samaritan woman comes to draw water. “Give me a drink,” Yeshua tells her, for His disciples had gone away to the town to buy food.

Then the Samaritan woman tells Him, “How is it that You, a Jew, ask me, a Samaritan woman, for a drink?” (For Jewish people don’t deal with Samaritans.)

J10 Yeshua replied to her, “If you knew the gift of God, and who it is who is saying to you, ‘Give Me a drink,’ you would have asked Him, and He would have given you living water.”

11 “Sir,” the woman tells Him, “You don’t have a bucket, and the well is deep. Then from where do You get this living water? 12 You’re not greater than our father Jacob, are You? He gave us this well. He drank out of it himself, with his sons and his cattle.”

13 Yeshua replied to her, “Everyone who drinks from this water will get thirsty again. 14 But whoever drinks of the water that I will give him shall never be thirsty. The water that I give him will become a fountain of water within him, springing up to eternal life!”

15 “Sir,” the woman tells Him, “give me this water, so I won’t get thirsty or have to come all the way here to draw water!”

16 He tells her, “Go call your husband, and then come back here.”

17 “I don’t have a husband,” the woman replied.

Yeshua tells her, “You’ve said it right, ‘I have no husband.’ 18 For you’ve had five husbands, and the man you have now isn’t your husband. This you’ve spoken truthfully!”

19 “Sir,” the woman tells Him, “I see that You are a prophet! 20 Our fathers worshiped on this mountain, but you all say that the place where we must worship is in Jerusalem.”

21 Yeshua tells her, “Woman, believe Me, an hour is coming when you will worship the Father neither on this mountain nor in Jerusalem. 22 You worship what you do not know; we worship what we know, for salvation is from the Jews. 23 But an hour is coming—it is here now—when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for the Father is seeking such people as His worshipers. 24 God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.”

25 The woman tells Him, “I know that Messiah is coming (He who is called the Anointed One.)[c] When He comes, He will explain everything to us.”

26 Yeshua tells her, “I—the One speaking to you—I am.”
