Rosh Hashanah is the Jewish New Year (Hebrew New Year). It is the anniversary of the creation of Adam and Eve, and a day of judgment and coronation of YHWH as Our Eternal King.  Rosh Hashanah (Hebrew: רֹאשׁ הַשָּׁנָה‎), literally meaning “head [of] the year”, is the Jewish New Year. The biblical name for this holiday is Yom Teruah ( יוֹם תְּרוּעָה‎), literally “day of shouting or blasting”.    This means  “head of the year” or “first of the year,” the festival begins on the first day of Tishrei, the seventh month of the Hebrew calendar, which falls during September or October according scripture verses.   This year is on Jewish Year 5781: Sunset September 18, 2020 – Nightfall September 20, 2020.

What is the proper greeting for Rosh Hashanah? If you’d like to wish somebody a happy Jewish New Year, you can say “L’Shanah Tovah,” which is Hebrew for “A Good Year.”
