The term Pharisee appears about 100 times on scripture verses of the Renewed Covenant (New Testament) aka Brit Chadasha.

Significance of Pharisaism:

A pharisaic (self-righteous) person is singular.

The pharisaism people are plural.

At times, a pharisaic person is described as someone who observes the formalities of a religion, but who neglects the spirit of his or her religious beliefs.

Relating to being self-righteously obsessed with religious rules and acting with hypocrisy with regard to the strict adherence to those standards and formalities: While the Pharisees, as a group, set high expectations for themselves, not all of the Pharisaical members lived up to those practices.

The beliefs and practices of the Pharisees’ strict pharisaic behavior, character, principles, etc. A sect of Rigid observance of external forms of religion, without genuine piety; hypocrisy in religion; a censorious, very zeal self-righteousness & their peer excessive legalistic attitude with such a passion.  A self-righteous spirit in matters of morals or manners i.e practicing torah observance of the letter of religious or moral law without regard for the spirit; sanctimoniousness.

Galatians 5 TLV Freedom Based on Favor (Grace)

Walking by the Ruach

13 Brothers and sisters, you were called to freedom—only do not let your freedom become an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another. 14 For the whole Torah can be summed up in a single saying: “Love your neighbor as yourself.” [c] 15 But if you bite and devour one another, watch out that you are not destroyed by one another.

16 But I say, walk by the Ruach, and you will not carry out the desires of the flesh. 17 For the flesh sets its desire against the Ruach, but the Ruach sets its desire against the flesh—for these are in opposition to one another, so that you cannot do what you want. 18 But if you are led by the Ruach, you are not under law. 19 Now the deeds of the flesh are clear: sexual immorality, impurity, indecency, 20 idolatry, witchcraft, hostility, strife, jealousy, rage, selfish ambition, dissension, factions, 21 envy, drunkenness, carousing, and things like these.
