Serving Widows

Share about widows before I elaborate more scripture verses more seeing spiritual comprehension. Ok?

First I read April 22, 2023 USCCB Saturday of the Second Week of Easter on Acts 6:1-7, Psalms 33:1-2, 4-5, 18-19, Jn 6:16-21

I notice widows on Acts 6:1 TLV

Appointed for Service

6 Now in those days, when the disciples were multiplying, grumbling arose[a] among the Hellenists (that Greek-speaking Jews) against the (native) Hebrews, because their widows were being overlooked in the daily support. So the Twelve called together the whole group of the disciples and said, “It is not right for us to neglect the word of God in order to serve tables.

Footnotes

  1. Acts 6:1 cf. Exod. 16:7-8.

My elaborate tip for beginners before sharing more deep spiritual:

Pesach (Passover) is on 14 Nisan we serve Pesach Seder meal in the late afternoon toward sunset, after sunset 14th becomes “new” 15th —Chag haMatzah (Unleavened Bread) is always High Shabbat (Holy High day) on 15 Nisan at sunset, 15th becomes “new” 16th Nisan:

FirstFruits (Yom haBikkurium, or the Day of Firstfruits, or Reishit ha’katzir, the ‘beginning of the harvest) same time Counting of the Omer (Sefirat haOmer) always is on 16 Nisan counts 49 days of counting the Omer toward Shavuot (Feast “Festival” of Weeks, or Pentecost) occurs on the 50th day AFTER the 49 days of counting the Omer from 16 Nisan. Hope this helps.

Shavuot 2023 (5783) begins at sundown on Thursday May 25, 2023 (5783), and concludes at nightfall on Shabbat, May 27, 2023 (5783).

I notice widows (Acts 6:1) regarding Deuteronomy 16:9-12 TLV: widows appeared on the first five scroll – Exodus (you can check all scripture verses)…Deuteronomy (devarim in Hebrew means words)

Jesus is the Word (DaBaR) (MeMRa, Logos, Rhema) of words i.e.: Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will never pass away. Luke 21:33

Hebrew word DaBaR (DeVaR) is singular. Devarim are plural. The word dabar (Hebrew: דָּבָר) means “word”, “talk” “speak”, or “thing” in Hebrew. The root דבר (dabar) is verb. Check H1696

Deut 16:9-12:

Seven weeks you are to count for yourself—from the time you begin to put the sickle to the standing grain you will begin to count seven weeks. 10 Then you will keep the Feast of Shavuot[b] to Adonaiyour God with a measure of a freewill offering from your hand, which you are to give according to how Adonai your God blesses you. 11 So you will rejoice before Adonai your God in the place Adonaiyour God chooses to make His Name dwell—you, your son and daughter, slave and maid, Levite and outsider, orphan and widow in your midst. 12 You will remember that you were a slave in Egypt, and you are to take care and do these statutes (laws).

[b] Shavuot: Acts 2:1

Now go back to Acts 6:1-2 why complain arguing smoking groups?

The answer is the Twelve followed and obeyed Jesus’ Divine Teachings command:

The Twelve called a general meeting of the talmidim (disciples) and said, “It isn’t appropriate that we should neglect the Word of God in order to serve tables.

Do not neglect Yeshua/Jesus and His Divine Teachings quote from Deuteronomy 16:11

11 So you will rejoice before Adonai your God in the place Adonai your God chooses to make His Name dwell—you, your son and daughter, slave and maid, Levite and outsider, orphan and widow in your midst.
